In this class, youth sailors learn the basic skills necessary to race sailboats. This class is designed for advanced beginners and intermediate sailors with an interest in racing. Students are taught basic racing rules, how to sail around a race course, starting and mark-rounding techniques, among other skills. This one-week class is offered in both the Opti and Club 420 sailboats and will prepare sailors for competition at West Michigan Youth Sailing Association (WMYSA) regattas or Midwest Interscholastic Sailing Association (MISSA) high school sailing regattas. This class serves as a bridge class to joining the Team SJJF Race Team.
